We are visiting Chemnitz to show two films Maurice the Cat and Butterfly Tale at the Schlingel Filmfest 2023 in the category "Spotlight Germany".

It's ITFS festival Stuttgart time again! This year we are happy to have had two projects involved in the festival.

We are super excited that the script for our new project ‘PIRATE MO and the Legend of the Red Ruby’, written by Richie Conroy, is won the German Animation Screenplay Award at ITFS! It’s time to set sail little Mo!

On top, 'THE AMAZING MAURICE/MAURICE DER KATER' will be screened at the ITFS Open Air event.

After being able the to celebrate the German premiere of "The Amazing Maurice" (Maurice der Kater) the movie is now in cinemas!

The day could not have been better or more beautifully. The largest cinema at Cinemaxx Dammtor was jam-packed and everyone, big and small, had a lot of fun! After years of hard work, a wonderful reward for the whole team. Thank you to everyone who came and celebrated with us! We are proud of everyone involved and especially of our beautiful film.

Our film 'The Amazing Maurice' has been longlisted for the BAFTA Awards 2023 in the category "Best Animated Feature"!

We're hugely excited about that, what an honour.

The shortlist will be announced on March 24th, 2023. We're keeping our fingers crossed!

Today Ulysses Films turns 17! We have been producing animated films for the international market since 2004. That is what we can do and what we will also be showing with our current productions “The Amazing Maurice” (based on the novel by Terry Pratchett) and “Butterfly Tale”. The first finished material looks fantastic!

Many thanks to all of our partners, colleagues and friends from all over the world!

As filmmakers we are happy to be doing our part to quickly overcome the unprecedented situation that arose last year and this year. We have to produce good, high-quality films so that the cinemas continue to offer people an attractive range of culture and education, entertainment and fun when the pandemic subsides.

Ooops!2 is now on Blu-Ray, DVD and digital platforms everywhere in Germany.

Today's the day! With over 520 copies, OOOPS!2 is released in German cinemas. We're over the moon!

Not long until bayala - Das magische Elfenabenteuer is released in theaters all over Germany on 24th of October, 2019. Get ready for an adventurous journey through the magical world of fairies and dragons. We can't wait!

From outer space straight into the living rooms! Luis and the Aliens will be released on DVD in Germany, Austria and Switzerland on November 1st, 2018.

We are more than happy that our film "Luis and the Aliens" is nominated for the 26. Childrens Media Festival Goldener Spatz. It's the third time for us to be nominated. The festival will take place from 10th - 16th June, 2018 in Gera and Erfurt.

The Bavarian Film Award took place in Munich on January 19th, 2018 and we were lucky enough to receive one for “Richard, the Stork” in the category “Best Youth Film” along with the producers from Knudsen & Streuber Medienmanufaktur from Berlin. We are so proud of our little sparrow!

After our German pre-release premiere in Hamburg on 7th of May, 2017, the little sparrow will finally make it's way to German cinemas! Release is on May 11th, 2017 - we can't wait!

"Richard, the Stork" will celebrate it's world premiere on the 12th February at Berlinale 2017 and is also nominated in the category "Generation Kplus"! We'll keep our fingers crossed!

The official german release will then be on May 11th 2017 - We can't wait for the little birds to start their big journey!

Europes top animation producer is from Hamburg

It wasn’t a home match. At Cartoon Movie in Lyon, France 750 professionals (producers, directors, writers, television editors, distributors and world sales) from all over Europe chose the most successful animation producer of the year. The award went to Hamburg, to Emely Christians from Ulysses Filmproduktion, who developed and produced the film “Ooops! Noah is gone…” (“Two by Two”, “All Creatures Big and Small”) in 3D in cooperation with Studio Rakete (Hamburg) and co-producers in Luxembourg, Belgium and Ireland.

The film is about heartbreakingly comical creatures who have missed the boat when Noah set sails and despite all the contradictions become a team to survive storm and flood. The film was already a sensation at the last film festival in Cannes, because it was sold to every country on earth. The strongly represented French delegation in Lyon also thus honored the success of the film in French cinemas where until now more than 550.000 visitors came.

"Ooops! Noah is gone..." is nominated for the Award of the German Film Critics in the category "children's film"! The awarding will take place on 15.02.2016 in Berlin. Fingers crossed!

Finally, Finny and his friends at your home! At least in Ireland and UK, because there "Two by Two - Ooops! The Ark has gone..." is available on DVD now!

"Ooops! Noah is gone..." got the rating "especially valuable" by the Deutsche Film- and Medienbewertung. We say thank you!

We have pleasant news - our project "Monstrous Maud" received FFA script development funding! We are happy to work together with script writer Katharina Reschke on this project.

In May 2014 Ulysses celebrates its 10th anniversary! There is a nice article under "Press" about it from the Hamburger Aufblende.

Ari Folman's "The Congress" won "Best European Animation Feature Film" in Berlin on December 7th. Congratulations also to Studio Rakete, who produced parts of the animation in Hamburg.

We are pleased to report, that Evgeny Ruman won the award for best director for "Igor and the Cranes' Journey" at the Minsk International Film Festival! Congratulations!

On the 21. August 2013 our new project Richard the Stork received funding from the FFA in the amount of 300.000 €. Now the production will start, as planned, next year! Our team is already looking forward to the work on this touching, exciting and adventurous film.

In the last meeting of the FFHSH, we have been awarded with 400.000 €  production funding for our new film “Richard the Stork”. We are very pleased , because the little stork nowvalso has a nest in Hamburg!

Now it's official: Global Screen took over world sales for our animation feature film "Richard the Stork", which we produce together with Knudsen & Streuber Medienmanufaktur in Berlin. For the first time the film is in the Global Screen Line-Up at Cannes Film Festival!

Our project Thor got the "rating particularly valuable" from the Filmbewertungsstelle Wiesbaden. We are very happy about that and can't wait for our exciting animation feature film, about the icelandic saga around the young hero Thor, to be released in german cinemas on April 11th.



The Distributor in Germany is Koch Media.



The film won two national Edda awards (Icelandic Oscar) for Best Editor (Elísabet Ronaldsdóttir) and Best Production Design (Gunnar Karlsson). It was nominated for 6 Edda awards.

We are happy that our new project Richard the stork received development funding by the Filmförderung Hamburg Schleswig-Holstein.

We are happy to announce that our new animation feature film project "My Chaosfairy & me", written by Simone Veenstra and Anja Schneider, received MEDIA Development.


In November 2011 it already received script development funding from the filmfunding Hamburg Schleswig - Holstein.

The project has been developed as a TV series at the "Akademie für Kindermedien" 2009*10 and as a feature film by the producer Maite Woköck at the EAVE European Producers Workshop 2011.
